We
are talking about another BP oil "leak" that is very near to where 7
million people, including Chicago get their drinking water. Why hasn't
this made the national news. Why is BP the 'sacred
cow'? They have destroyed and/or polluted a large portion of the Gulf of Mexico and
are now working on Lake Michigan? Is anyone taking notice if this?

BP refinery leaks oil into Lake Michigan
BP said one of its US refineries had leaked an undisclosed amount of crude oil into Lake Michigan.
The company said that at about 4:30 pm on Monday, a
disruption in the refining process resulted in a release of crude oil
from the cooling water outfall at its Whiting, Indiana refinery into Lake Michigan.
It said the discharge had stopped, and BP and its response team had deployed a boom which had contained the oil in a cove located between the refinery’s waste water treatment plant and a steel mill. It said there had been no injuries, and clean-up activities were under way.
Depending on the size of the spill, it could have a bearing on the penalties facing BP over the 2010 Deepwater Horizon disaster.
Under the Clean Water Act, the penalty to be set by the federal judge
hearing the case in New Orleans will range up to a potential maximum of
about $18bn, based on factors including the company’s other offenses.
